Chris Pratt is stepping back into the world of action in “The Electric State”!
In the sci-fi adventure film, which is set in “the aftermath of a robot uprising in an alternate version of the ’90s,” per Netflix, Chris plays a smuggler named Keats who helps Michelle (Millie Bobby Brown) search for her younger brother.
“It’s amazing, the film – even though it’s set in an alternate reality, it’s very nostalgic,” Chris told Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans at the movie’s premiere. “You’ve got the pop culture and the music. The way that the movie is cut together, it feels like a movie from that time – and then of course, the wardrobe and the looks and the swagger and the vocabulary.”
Another element of the nostalgia was Chris’ retro onscreen hairstyle – which he shared was his idea!
“I was like, ‘This guy is from the ’80s and he lives in the ’90s. He watched ‘Point Break’ one day and was like, ‘I’m going to do that,’ but he did it longer than he should have – and that’s Keats,” Chris said.
The actor also gushed over working with Millie Bobby Brown, who he got to know well during their time on set.
“She was in young love, engaged to be married to Jake [Bongiovi] – now of course they’re married. And it was just awesome to see them be super young and in love,” he recalled. “She’s like a mother to all of these cats and dogs and goats and chickens and bunnies and llamas. I swear to God, she was like bringing a petting zoo with her every day [to set],” he quipped, adding that she’s “very maternal” and “very sweet.”
“The Electric State” debuts on Netflix on March 14.
