Deidre Hall is speaking out on the loss of one of her most beloved co-stars.
The “Days of Our Lives” icon shared her sorrow about castmate Drake Hogestyn’s death, telling Access Hollywood in an exclusive statement about the personal and professional legacy her longtime friend and colleague leaves behind.
“For nearly 4 decades, Marlena Evans and I have loved the same man. Marlena’s John is an iconic hero, unfailingly rescuing her from all matter of villains,” Hall said in part, referencing her “Days” alter ego. “My acting partner was incredibly professional from the moment he entered the studio; flawless in his preparation and ready for any eventuality in any scene.”
She went on to praise Hogestyn’s demeanor on set and dedication to his loved ones.
“He was gracious and kind to everyone, from the executive staff to the night crew. Drake loved what he did and adored and respected everyone with whom he did it. Having said that, we always knew that his two greatest loves were his family and the Yankees,” Hall added. “Victoria and their children were truly the center of his life. Drake is dearly loved by everyone who ever knew him and he will be missed beyond measure. We will continue, as he always encouraged us, to swing for the fences.”
Hogestyn died on Sept. 28, just one day shy of his 71st birthday. His last “Days” episode aired just weeks earlier.
His onscreen sons Eric Martsolf (Brady Black) and Christopher Sean (Paul Narita) shared loving memories of Hogestyn in an exclusive sit-down with Access Hollywood, and you can tune in on Oct. 2 to hear more from the “Days of our Lives” family only on Access – check your local listings.
