Jenelle Evans is in a new era of her life.
The “Teen Mom 2” alum spoke with Access Hollywood about throwing a divorce party at Spearmint Rhino New York City after her split from David Eason.
“It’s really important for me because I’m closing an old chapter in my life and I’m moving on independently. And you know the safety for my kids and moving away from toxic energy and just starting out fresh,” she said about why she wants to throw this party.
She also got candid about when she knew things were over between her and David.
“It’s like a light switch went off in my head. I kinda woke up one day and was like, you know, I’m sick of dealing with, you know, living with someone who I don’t get along with so much that it’s like we’re roommates. It was very toxic and disrespectful. I’m happier now and I’m not walking on egg shells.”
The 33-year-old also shared an update about where things stand with her relationship with her mother, Barbara “Babs” Evans.
“We’ve been talking from time to time and we’ve been catching up during the week. Yeah, right now we’re on civil terms,” she shared. “Things (are) pretty good.”
The former “16 & Pregnant” star also opened up about her 15-year-old son Jace, whom she recently revealed has moved in with his father Andrew Lewis.
“Jace, you know, he needs to reconnect with his father and I think it was very important. And I think it was the time for, you know Jace, he’s old enough to where he can handle his own emotions. I feel like when he was younger it would have been harder for him if he spent that time with his dad. But now, they reconnected and they’re spending time together. He’s teaching him guy things, they’re catching up and it’s been smooth.
