Olivia Munn is revealing why she decided to get back into acting.
The actress exclusively chatted with Access Hollywood’s guest correspondent Emily Orozco at the Genesis House about her hit Apple TV+ show, “Your Friends and Neighbors” and explained why she signed on after telling agents she was done with acting.
“I just had gone through so much personally and I just focused in on what I wanted to do with my time and who I wanted to spend it with,” she told Access revealing her surrogate was pregnant with her daughter Méi June when she was offered the role. “Because I had such a hard postpartum time with Malcom, I was like I need to like be here for all of the moments and I don’t want to take time away from my family. I read it and something sparked in me again and I was like, ‘This is what I want to do.’ And I was ready to drop all of the fears and anxieties that I had about going back to work.”
Since its premiere, “Your Friends and Neighbors” has become Apple TV+’s most-watched first season and has been picked up for a Season 2.
“All of us are just like blown away by that,” she told Access. “It’s just really exciting for all of us because you never when you film something, you never know how people are going to [respond].”
The 44-year-old also talked about her dynamic with her co-star Jon Hamm and how they are a perfect comedic duo.
“Jon Hamm and I have a similar sensibility in the way that our humor is,” she said. “He and I both find a lot of humor in frustrating things in life. This whole show is like high pressure, high intensity, really complicated dynamics and relationships and so in those things we find a lot of humor.”
For fans of the show, Olivia revealed they have already started filming Season 2, and although she couldn’t say tease much, she did reveal some guest stars she’d love to have on Meryl Streep and Glen Powell.
“Your Friends and Neighbors” is out now on Apple TV+.
