Cory Booker’s Record-Setting 25-Hour Speech Gets Reaction From Meghan McCain, John Legend & More

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker made history on April 1 after he spoke on the floor for 25 hours and 5 minutes, breaking the record for longest Senate speech in modern history. The previous record was held by then-South Carolina Sen. Storm Thurmond who filibustered against the Civil Rights Act of 1957 for 24 hours and 18 minutes. Though the Democratic politician was protesting President Donald Trump’s agenda, his speech was mostly symbolic as he was not blocking a specific piece of legislation or nominee. The New Jersey senator, who began the speech the previous night at 7PM ET, received a lot of attention for his protest. Not only was his presentation reportedly liked by over 350 million people on TikTok live, but he also got recognition from some celebrities, including John Legend, Andy Cohen, Jon Bon Jovi, and Meghan McCain.
