Karen Read Speaks Out After Being Acquitted Of Boyfriend’s Murder In Retrial

Karen Read is speaking out. A jury found Read not guilty of second-degree murder in the 2022 death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe, and she joined her parents and legal team outside the courtroom minutes later, where a crowd cheered before she delivered her first remarks on the June 18 decision. “No one has fought harder for justice for John O’Keefe than I have, and my team,” she said, also thanking supporters. Read’s dad echoed her sentiments in remarks of her own. Read was convicted on a lesser charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor. A group of witnesses issued a statement on the verdict to Access Hollywood, calling it a “devastating miscarriage of justice.”
