New York City Shooter Mentioned CTE, Believed To Have Targeted NFL, Says Mayor Eric Adams

New details are emerging about the suspected New York City gunman who opened fire at a Park Avenue office building on July 28, killing four people, including a police officer. Shane Devon Tamura, a 27-year-old resident of Nevada, is accused of entering 345 Park Avenue on Monday evening armed with an AR-15 style rifle where he began to spray the lobby with gunfire before heading up to the 33rd floor where he fatally shot someone before turning the gun on himself. On Tuesday, July 29, Mayor Eric Adams joined MSNBC’s Morning Joe to weigh in on new reporting, including that the alleged shooter left a note mentioning CTE and may have been targeting the NFL headquarters. “There’s no more than just a note at this time. And as you indicated, he talked about CTE. He was not an NFL player. We have reason to believe that he was focused on the NFL agency that was located in the building,” Adams told anchor Willie Geist, adding, “We’re going to continue to investigate with our federal partners to ensure that we can find a reason and identify of any other weapons. We found an additional weapon in the car that was parked outside at this time.”
