Sabrina Carpenter Reveals Inspiration Behind Her New Song ‘Manchild’
Please, please, please don’t assume you know who Sabrina Carpenter’s new song is about! After fans speculated “Manchild” was inspired by a specific ex, the Grammy winner clarified what her new summer anthem was actually about in a candid post on Instagram on June 5. “I wrote ‘Manchild’ on a random Tuesday with Amy [Allen] and Jack [Antonoff] not too long after finishing ‘Short n’ Sweet’ and it ended up being the best random Tuesday of my life,” she explained in the caption. “It sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll, and it feels like a never-ending road trip in the summer!” she added before giving a shout out to several people. “Thank you always and forever for listening and thank you men for testing me!” she wrote. Although the 26-year-old didn’t mention a particular ex in the song or her caption, the “Espresso” singer was most recently linked to Irish actor Barry Keoghan. The former couple were first linked in December 2023, and he even starred in the music video to her hit single, “Please, please, please.”
