Abel Tesfaye Talks ‘The Weeknd’ Persona & Creating His Most ‘Cathartic’ Work In ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’
Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye’s new film, “Hurry Up Tomorrow” may be one of his most personal projects to date. “I think I just made it as like a reminder to myself to just you know when it [gets] tough you just sit down, you’re not Super Man, we’re all human. You can’t perform your way out of whatever issues you’re going through. It was a very cathartic piece of art for me,” he told Access Hollywood’s Zuri Hall at the film’s New York premiere. Abel also talked about shedding his “The Weeknd” persona, admitting losing his singing voice for a brief period of time was a huge turning point for him. “Hurry Up Tomorrow” hits theaters May 14.
