Allyson Felix Talks Fallout With Nike & Being An Inspiration To Of Athletes In New Documentary

Allyson Felix’s journey of being a mom and an athlete is being told in her documentary, “She Runs the World.” “It really explores so much of my journey you know and not just the on the track moments, but the fights and you know what I’ve really pushed for and creating change,” the Olympian told Access Hollywood at the movie’s premiere at the Tribecca Film Festival. In an exclusive clip from the doc, fans see how Allyson became an advocate for maternity protection after a public falling out with longtime sponsor Nike, when they suggested a 70% pay cut to her contract while she was pregnant. “It felt so disrespectful, it felt like my journey was almost over,” she told Access. “It felt like I wasn’t believed in anymore and then I had to remember what I had been through, who I am and how I’ve really built things over the years,” she added. Her advocacy led to a change in Nike’s maternity policy and the 39-year-old continues to be an inspiration to the next generation. “She Runs the World” is streaming now.
