Astronomer CEO Andy Byron Resigns Following Viral Coldplay Kiss Cam Video

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has resigned days after a video showing a couple ducking away from the kiss cam at a recent Coldplay concert in Massachusetts went viral. The pair appeared so caught off guard in the clip that Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin dropped a zinger that immediately sent internet sleuths to work. “Either they’re having an affair or they’re really shy,” Martin joked, as the man and woman both scrambled out of view. On Saturday, July 19, the data company announced in a statement on X that Byron has “tendered his resignation.” “As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met. Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” the statement read, adding, “The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.” Though NBC News has yet to independently confirm the couple’s respective identities as of July 19th, online users have claimed the Astronomer CEO is the man identified in the viral moment.
