CNN Turk Anchor Continues Reporting Live As 6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits
A television anchor in Turkey continued reporting live as the country was hit by a powerful earthquake. On Wednesday, April 23, a 6.2-magnitude earthquake shook Istanbul as CNN journalist Meltem Bozbeyoğlu was in the middle of a segment. In a video of the moment posted to social media, the studio behind Bozbeyoğlu starts visibly shaking. She keeps calm, raising her hand while her voice gets louder as she also tells the viewers what is occurring. “An earthquake is happening! A very powerful earthquake is happening,” she said in part, according to a translation posted by CNN. After the shock, the anchor then asks if someone can call and check on her mother. More than 200 people were injured, but there appears to be no loss of life as of Wednesday evening, according to authorities.
