David Beckham Calls King Charles’ Address To U.S. Congress ‘Powerful & Profound’
David Beckham is praising King Charles’ recent address to the United States Congress. The retired soccer player took to Instagram on April 29 to applaud the monarch’s recent speech, where he pushed back on President Donald Trump’s criticism of Britain and NATO and spoke on the importance of checks and balances. “Powerful and profound speech from Our King in Washington DC., following in his mother’s footsteps, showing great leadership and delivering such an important message to the world with remarkable elegance and humour,” David wrote alongside several pictures from the King’s speech. The 77-year-old royal’s visit to the U.S. is to mark the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. On April 28 he became the first British king to address Congress, following in the footsteps of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who delivered congressional remarks of her own in 1991.
