Gene Hackman & Wife Betsy Arakawa’s Dog Stayed By Her Side In New Bodycam Video

New bodycam footage has revealed heartbreaking insight into Gene Hackman and wife Betsy Arakawa’s shocking deaths. The Santa Fe, N.M., Sheriff’s Office released bodycam footage from the day police discovered the Oscar winner, 95, and his longtime spouse, 65, deceased inside their sprawling compound. The video, made public on April 15, reveals officers’ initial confusion over Hackman and Arakawa being found in separate areas of the nearly 9,000 square foot home. While one of the couple’s three German Shepherds had passed away inside a crate, a surviving pup was seen staying close to Arakawa’s body as authorities searched the premises on Feb. 26. Hackman was previously determined to have passed away from heart disease and Alzheimer’s, while Arakawa died of hantavirus, a rare, rodent-borne respiratory syndrome. An investigation report obtained by Access Hollywood states that no rodents or rodent feces were found in the primary residence, but authorities did detect droppings in other buildings on the property.
