Idaho Murder Victim’s Family Breaks Silence On Suspect Bryan Kohberger’s Reported Plea Deal
Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four college students in 2022, reportedly appears to have agreed to plead guilty in the University of Idaho murder case, which will take the death penalty off the table. Shanon Gray, the attorney for the family of Kaylee Goncalves, who is one of the four victims, confirmed the development to NBC News. “Appears there is a plea deal that has been offered and accepted,” she said. The Goncalveses later spoke out about the apparent plea deal on their family Facebook page, writing, “It’s true! We are beyond furious at the State of Idaho. They have failed us. Please give us some time. This was very unexpected. We appreciate all your love and support.” Kohberger was charged with four counts of first-degree murder and burglary for the stabbing death of Goncalves, Ethan Chapin, Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen, who were killed at their off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho, in 2022. A plea of not guilty was originally entered on his behalf by the judge. If convicted, he could have been sentenced to death in a trial that was scheduled to begin Aug. 18 in Boise.
