Joe Biden Reveals Why He ‘Wasn’t Surprised’ Donald Trump Won Election Over Kamala Harris

Joe Biden didn’t hold back during his first live TV interview since leaving the White House. The former President, 82, slammed current commander-in-chief Donald Trump on the May 8 episode of “The View,” telling the co-hosts that he believes the first 100 days of Trump’s second term were the worst of any U.S. president. When asked why he thinks Trump often disparages him in public remarks, Biden took a swipe of his own. “I beat him,” he said, referencing his victory over Trump in the 2020 election, adding, “I’m used to dealing with bullies.” Biden went on to reflect on his Vice President, Kamala Harris, replacing him on the Democratic ticket after his disastrous debate performance against Trump and revealed why he was “very disappointed” but ultimately “not surprised” that she ended up losing. “I’ve never seen quite as successful and consistent a campaign undercutting the notion that a woman couldn’t lead the country and a woman of mixed race,” he said, explaining that he thinks their opponents went “the sexist route.” Despite stepping down as the nominee, Biden acknowledged that he feels ultimately responsible for Trump’s win because he was still the sitting President at the time of the election. He noted that he keeps in touch with Harris frequently and had just spoken with her the previous day. As for multiple claims that his cognitive function was of growing concern in his final year in office, including among former President Barack Obama, Biden and wife Dr. Jill Biden, who joined the interview mid-way, maintained that his decision to bow out of the race wasn’t related to any health issues. In fact, Biden even doubled down on his thoughts about whether he still could have beaten Trump had he seen the whole race through.
