K-Pop Star & Former NCT Member Taeil Sentenced To Over 3 Years In Prison For Rape Charge
South Korean singer and former NCT member, Moon Taeil, has been sentenced to prison for a rape charge involving a tourist, according to multiple outlets. The 31-year-old and two other men, who are referred to as Lee and Hong, were each sentenced to three and a half years in prison at a Seoul Central District Court on July 10, according to the BBC, the New York Times and The Korea Herald. The court also ordered each of them to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, per the outlets. The three men plead guilty to “special quasi-rape,” which South Korean law refers to as a case where a victim is unconscious and two or more perpetrators are involved. Prosecutors were seeking a seven-year sentencing but took into account that the three men were all first-time offenders, admitted to the charges and reached a settlement with the victim. After the sentencing was revealed all three men were taken into custody. Taeil exited the K-Pop group NCT in Aug. 2024 when the allegations first emerged.
