NASA Astronauts Butch Wilmore & Suni Williams Return To Earth 9 Months After Getting Stuck In Space
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned to Earth on March 18, nine months after they got stuck in space. The two started their mission at the International Space Station on June 6, 2024 and were supposed to be there for a little over a week but their stay was extended after the Boeing Starliner capsule that they took experienced issues. On Tuesday, they returned on a SpaceX Dragon spacecraft with NASA astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov, who arrived at the International Space Station on Sept. 29, 2024. Butch and Suni’s return to Earth ends a long saga that got national attention last summer. They spent 286 days in space—278 days longer than anticipated when they launched. According to AP, they circled the Earth 4,576 times and traveled 121 miles by the time of splashdown.
