‘Octomom’ Natalie Suleman Speaks Out On Public Scrutiny After Having 14 Kids: Our Lives Were Hijacked

Natalie “Nadya” Suleman is ready to speak out. Branded “Octomom” after giving birth to the first surviving set of octuplets in 2009, Natalie sits down with Access Hollywood guest correspondent Emily Orozco to explain why she’s ready to reflect on her experience with the intense media scrutiny that followed her and her family, which also includes six older children. From tabloid scandals to financial hardships and mental health struggles, Natalie shares her thoughts on the “Octomom” label and sets the record straight on the narrative that she sought celebrity status and even wanted to look like Angelina Jolie at the peak of her exposure. “The biggest misconception is I wanted fame,” she said. “Which is ironic because I’ve been hiding from society my whole life and then I was catapulted into the public eye, without permission, without being prepared, without wanting it, fighting it the whole time.” Natalie also raves over Kristen Lee Gustokie, who portrays her in the upcoming Lifetime movie “I Was Octomom,” premiering March 8. Natalie’s six-part documentary series “Confessions of Octomom” premieres March 10 on Lifetime.
