Sheinelle Jones Returning To Co-Host ‘Today’ 4 Months After Husband’s Death

Sheinelle Jones will return to the desk at “Today” after an extended absence following the illness and death of her husband Uche Ojeh. On Sept. 2, “Today” co-hosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie announced that Sheinelle will be making her return to the NBC morning show on Friday. “Today” will also air a sit-down interview between Savannah and the 47-year-old mom of 3, marking her first time speaking publicly since losing her husband to brain cancer. “She calls this experience a ‘beautiful nightmare,’” Savannah said during Tuesday’s broadcast. “And she has thoughts on grief that are so touching. She’s got a special message of hope too for anyone facing their own struggles, and we will share that with you.” Sheinelle has been absent from the show since January, stating at the time that she needed to “deal with a family health matter.” Uche Ojeh’s death was announced on “Today” on May 23.
