Taylor Swift’s Rep Slams Subpoena In Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni’s ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit

Taylor Swift’s rep is speaking out after Justin Baldoni’s lawyers reportedly subpoenaed the music superstar in his and Blake Lively’s ongoing “It Ends With Us” legal saga. A statement from Taylor’s team obtained by NBC News on May 9 spoke out against the development and explained why they believe there’s no justifiable reason to involve her in the case. “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,” the statement read, referencing Taylor’s blockbuster Eras Tour. “The connection Taylor had to this film was permitting the use of one song, ‘My Tears Ricochet.’ Given that her involvement was licensing a song for the film, which 19 other artists also did, this document subpoena is designed to use Taylor Swift’s name to draw public interest by creating tabloid clickbait instead of focusing on the facts of the case,” the statement concluded. Taylor is a longtime friend of Blake’s and was previously mentioned in a complaint from Baldoni’s team that claimed Lively called the singer one of her “dragons” in an alleged text message. Lively and Baldoni have been embroiled in a heated legal saga stemming from Lively’s accusations of sexual harassment against Baldoni, in addition to her claims that he took part in an alleged smear campaign to tarnish her reputation. The “Jane the Virgin” alum has denied all allegations and hit back with his own legal filings against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist for alleged defamation and more claims, which they have denied.
