Why George Clooney Is Rooting For ‘Much Younger, Talented Actors’ To Win Tony Award Instead Of Him

George Clooney is nominated for his first Tony Award! On Sunday, June 8, the actor attended the Tonys where he chatted with Access Hollywood about his nomination for his role as Edward R. Murrow in “Good Night and Good Luck,” calling it “pretty cool.” The Hollywood icon however says winning the award isn’t at the forefront of his mind tonight. “Oh, I don’t think that’s in the cards and I don’t mind that at all. There’s such wonderful, young – much younger – talented actors that are nominated tonight that I’m really rooting for because it’s a big boost for their careers in a way that, you know, this for me was a challenge to do, and I wanted to do it,” he said, adding, “But their careers are just getting started. So I’m excited to see one of them take it home tonight.” Plus, the Oscar winner dished about his and wife Amal Clooney’s twins, Ella and Alexander, recently celebrating their eighth birthday. “Well, I got very drunk, which is probably not what you should do with twins,” the 64-year-old joked when asked how the family celebrated, adding, “We have a massive party in two days at home so it’s going to be fun.”
