Blake Lively Calls Her Kids A ‘Lifeline’ During ‘Intense Year’ Amid Justin Baldoni Drama
Blake Lively is sharing rare insight into her family life amid a tumultuous personal time. The “Another Simple Favor” star joined “Late Night with Seth Meyers” on May 1 and reflected on how her and Ryan Reynolds’ four children have been a source of strength for her as she navigates a heated legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Though Blake did not name her “It Ends With Us” director and co-star or provide details on the case, she noted that she’s felt her share of challenges these past few months. “What I can say is that without going too into it is that this year has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” she said, explaining that her three daughters and son help keep her grounded. “It’s no surprise I’ve had a pretty intense year, and they’re just my lifeline. No matter what day I’m having, I have to be Disneyland for them.” The appearance marked Blake’s first TV interview since her 2024 complaint and subsequent lawsuit accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and other inappropriate behavior that allegedly took place during their movie’s production. The actress has also claimed that he was involved in an alleged smear campaign to tarnish her reputation. The “Jane the Virgin” alum has denied all allegations and hit back with his own legal filings against Blake, Ryan and their publicist for alleged defamation and more claims, all of which they have denied. While on “Late Night,” Blake echoed the female empowerment theme within her recent TIME100 speech and said she’s grateful to have a platform that so many don’t. “I see so many woman around, afraid to speak — especially right now — afraid to share their experiences. And fear is by design. It’s what keeps us silent. But I also acknowledge that many people don’t have the opportunity to speak. So I do feel fortunate that I’ve been able to,” she said, adding, “It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong and helped me in my belief and my fight for the world to be safer for women and girls.”
