Charlie Kirk ‘Loved’ His ‘South Park’ Episode & ‘Would Want’ It Back On Air, Producer Says
A friend and colleague of Charlie Kirk’s says the late conservative activist would want the “South Park” episode that satirized him prior to his death back on the air. “The Charlie Kirk Show” executive producer Andrew Kolvet spoke out on Sept. 17 to asking for the episode to be restored, one week after Comedy Central pulled a scheduled rerun in light of Kirk’s fatal shooting. “As someone who can speak with some authority on this, Charlie loved that he was featured in South Park. He told me many times. He would want the episode back up,” Kolvet wrote, tagging Paramount+. The episode, titled “Got a Nut,” originally dropped Aug. 6 and remains on the subscription-based streaming platform, though a rerun slated for Sept. 10 got taken off the scheduled broadcast lineup after Kirk was killed the same day. The episode centered on lead character Cartman imitating Kirk’s debate style on college campuses while also sporting his haircut and mannerisms. At one point, the storyline features a “Charlie Kirk Award for Young Masterdebaters” ceremony, directly referencing the Turning Point USA co-founder. Kirk appeared to embrace the parody following its original release, telling Fox News’ Jesse Waters that he was “honored” and speaking further on the topic in a reaction video uploaded to his YouTube channel. Paramount Skydance has not responded to a request for comment from Access Hollywood on the Kirk episode. Meanwhile, “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone issued a statement on the delay of a new episode planned for Sept. 17, which they said simply wasn’t finished in time. “This one’s on us,” the statement read in part, thanking fans and Comedy Central for their understanding. “Tune in next week!”
