Donald Trump & Volodymyr Zelenskyy Meet Before Pope Funeral For 1st Time Since Oval Office Clash

Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy have reunited nearly two months after their now-infamous clash in the Oval Office. On April 26, the world leaders had their first face-to-face meeting since the explosive dispute, sitting down at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City ahead of Pope Francis’ funeral. Trump and the Ukrainian president appeared to be on good terms and also conferred with French president Emanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. According to the BBC, the White House described Trump and Zelenskyy’s reported 15-minute conversation as “very productive,” while a translated post on Zelensky’s social called the meeting “very symbolic” with the “potential to become historic.” The pair’s last in-person exchange on Feb. 28 quickly unraveled after Vice President JD Vance suggested that diplomacy was Ukraine’s best path toward ending its three-year war with Russia. The argument resulted in Zelenskyy’s abrupt and early exit from the White House. But now, the Ukrainian leader says he’s hopeful that his goal of “full and unconditional ceasefire” can be achieved.
