Pope Francis Funeral: Donald Trump, Joe Biden, Prince William & More Pay Respects

U.S. President Donald Trump, former President Joe Biden and Prince William were among the notable world figures who paid respects to Pope Francis as the pontiff was laid to rest in Vatican City on April 26. Thousands gathered at St. Peter’s Basilica for the funeral service which also drew other leaders including French President Emanuel Macron, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Trump was accompanied by First Lady and practicing Catholic Melania Trump, who donned a black veil. The occasion fell on FLOTUS’ 55th birthday. Fellow Catholic Biden, for his part, was with wife and former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. Princess Kate Middleton did not appear with William, who was there solo on behalf of his father, King Charles. The pope died on April 21 following complications from a stroke and heart failure, just hours after greeting supporters in a surprise appearance on Easter Sunday. He was 88.
