Donatella Versace Stepping Down As Head Of Versace After 25 Years

Donatella Versace, who has been at the helm of Versace for more than 25 years is stepping down. In an Instagram post on Mar. 13, the 69-year-old confirmed news that she would no longer be the brand’s creative director. “Championing the next generation of designers has always been important to me. I am thrilled that Dario Vitale will be joining us, and excited to see Versace through new eyes,” Versace wrote in the caption. Donatella has announced she is now taking on the role of Chief Brand Ambassador. The fashion icon has lead the brand since the 1997 murder of her brother Gianni Versace. “It has been the greatest honor of my life to carry on my brother Gianni’s legacy. He was the true genius, but I hope I have some of his spirit and tenacity,” says Donatella.
