George Clooney Shares How Aging Is One Reason He & Wife Amal Have Never Fought
George Clooney is getting candid about his evolving priorities. The Oscar winner, 64, opened up on “CBS Sunday Morning” and shared how aging has impacted not only his career but also his marriage to wife Amal Clooney, explaining that one reason he and the human rights attorney have famously never fought is due to him getting older – and perhaps wiser. “You get to a point in life where you just go, ‘Well, why would that be a discussion or an argument?’ We have a really amazing relationship because we’re also so supportive of each other. But when I was younger, I don’t know that that would have been the case. I think I would have found things to, you know, stick my chest out about that I can now go, it doesn’t matter. I don’t care,” he said, noting that he feels “more grounded” and “less angry” as the years go on. Clooney’s signature sense of humor was on display throughout the Nov. 2 segment, including when he poked fun at how his and Amal’s professional endeavors differ from one another and his increasing lack of concern about his appearance. The “Jay Kelly” star married Amal, 47, in 2014 and the couple shares 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander. Clooney went on to rave over Amal as an “extraordinary mother” who changed his previous perspective on settling down and starting a family, and joked how they stick to a united front when it comes to their parenting style. “You’ll have to ask our kids in about 10 years when they’re in therapy,” he laughed. “We’re present, which is fun. I get to drive them to school most of the time, which is fun. Amal is so present and so there and such a great mom. We have very happy kids. We’ll see. I mean, everybody screws it up somewhere along the way. So we’re just trying to do the least of it as we can.”
