Influencer Nicole Doyon Shares Hurricane Melissa Aftermath After Getting Stranded During Yoga Retreat
Influencer Nicole Doyon is safe and sound after getting stranded in Jamaica during Hurricane Melissa. The TikTok creator shared multiple updates on her and her friends’ situation as the Category 5 storm headed to the island nation for an historic direct hit on Oct. 28. Nicole and 14 others were in Jamaica for a yoga retreat ahead of the hurricane, and she explained in one video that she and two others stayed behind after they were unable to secure any flights off the island. They remained sheltered at a Montego Bay home where Nicole said they decided to take refuge in the wine cellar as the weather conditions worsened. Though the group did lose electricity at one point, Nicole later assured followers that they’d emerged from the storm relatively unscathed and gave viewers a glimpse at the property damage, from downed trees to some structural loss. The villa thankfully stayed intact overall, and she thanked the staff for being on hand to ensure everyone’s safety. Melissa left most of Jamaica without power and the full extent of the destruction remains unclear as of Oct. 29. The storm went on to make landfall on Cuba before heading toward the Bahamas, leaving dozens of people dead across multiple affected Caribbean nations.
