President Donald Trump Calls Taylor Swift ‘Terrific’ After Travis Kelce Engagement News

President Donald Trump is sharing his thoughts on the “Love Story” everyone’s talking about. The commander-in-chief weighed in on Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s engagement just hours after the news broke, telling reporters during a Cabinet meeting on Aug. 26 that he sends good tidings for the happy couple. “I wish him a lot of luck,” Trump said at first, adding, “I think he’s a great player. I think he’s a great guy and I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck.” The sentiment appeared to be a shift from Trump’s past comments on Taylor, including a now-viral Truth Social post from May in which he referred to the music superstar as “no longer hot.” For her part, Taylor rarely mentions Trump by name but she did express public concern about AI-generated images he had shared during his 2024 re-election campaign that falsely depicted her supporting him for president. She and her Super Bowl champ fiancé have been together since 2023 and confirmed in a joint Instagram post that they’re headed for the altar. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the caption read, accompanying photos of Travis’ proposal and the Old Mine brilliant-cut ring he designed with jewelry maker Kindred Lubeck.
