Tom Cruise Breaks Down ‘Intense’ Stunt of Hanging Off Plane in ‘Mission: Impossible’

Tom Cruise doesn’t back down from a challenge! On Sunday, May 18, the Hollywood icon spoke with Access Hollywood’s Emily Orozco at the New York premiere of “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” where he explained how he pulled off his “intense” stunt of hanging off a plane. “Well, it took a lot of years. I mean, I’ve just studied aerial photography for 40 years. When I did Top Gun, and I fly aerobatic airplanes and jets and helicopters. So, it’s really years and years and years of flying these things and doing it. When I was a kid, I always wanted to walk on wings and do that kind of stuff – that’s just me,” he began before revealing what the experience was like. “It was very intense. It took a long time to shoot – took a long time to figure out. If you take your face and your hand and you stick it out of your car going 140 miles an hour, you start feeling the force of that wind. And that’s the kind of force that I was sustaining when we were doing it,” he explained. Cruise additionally noted that some of the technical aspects included having to choose specific airplanes, educating pilots, and figuring out where to place him as well as the camera. “All of us learning together how to get the Zero-G between those wings and travel up and down the wing. It was quite an experience,” he said, adding, “It was wild.” Plus, the Oscar-nominee also raved about Ana De Armas’ talent as he praised her performance in “From the World of John Wick: Ballerina.” “I mean, her ability is incredible. There’s an actress that has dramatic chops and someone who is comedic – very, very talented, very, very talented. You see her in ‘Ballerina,’ and you look at Keanu [Reeves] and her together like just a great actress. So, we’re very excited,” he said, adding that she is a “force” in the film.
