Hailey Bieber Reveals She Had Postpartum Hemorrhage After Giving Birth To Son Jack
Hailey Bieber is getting candid about her experience with postpartum hemorrhage. In a new interview with Vogue, the Rhode founder opened up about her challenging delivery with her first child, son Jack Blues, whom she shares with husband Justin Bieber. “Giving birth was the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” she confessed, adding that despite preparing and keeping healthy during her pregnancy she experienced complications. At 39 weeks, the model began “leaking amniotic fluid,” per Vogue, and was induced as doctors used medication to provoke contractions. “That sh-t was so crazy. That was not fun. They broke my water. I went into labor and I labored for a few hours. No epidural, nothing.” Hailey’s labor lasted 18 hours and afterwards she experienced postpartum hemorrhage – or excessive bleeding – which affects about 1 to 5 percent of women. Though it is rare, it is serious, requiring medical attention right away, and in some cases can lead to shock or even death. The 28-year-old reflected it was a “little bit scary,” but also shared that she had faith with her doctor.
