Katy Perry Says She’s ‘Battered & Bruised’ After ‘Unhinged’ Blue Origin & Lifetimes Tour Backlash
Katy Perry is still ready to “Roar.” The pop superstar spoke out in the wake of viral backlash over her recent space flight and new world tour, sharing in a lengthy Instagram comment that despite the criticism she’s ultimately grateful for her devoted supporters. Katy chimed in on a Brazil-based fan page post on April 29, sharing in a candid reply that her focus remains on being true to herself and keeping an open heart. “When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she wrote in part. Though the 40-year-old noted that she believes much of the negativity comes from people facing their own personal struggles, she’s also aware that she’s her own work in progress. “I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS,” she added. The singer has faced widespread mockery in recent weeks following a controversial trip on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and the launch of her Lifetimes Tour. Many slammed the 11-minute spaceflight for its cost and polarizing message of female empowerment, which some found disingenuous, though fellow passengers Gayle King and Lauren Sanchez have staunchly defended the mission. Katy’s Lifetimes Tour has also been the subject of some online flak, but the songstress is celebrating the concert series with multiple peeks on social media and shared in one candid message why she believes she’s on the right path.
