Olivia Munn Reveals Mom’s ‘Heartbreaking’ Breast Cancer Battle 2 Years After Her Own Diagnosis
Olivia Munn’s breast cancer journey has taken an unexpected turn. The actress, 45, revealed that her mom, Kim, has been battling the illness following a diagnosis that came two years after Olivia’s. The “Your Friends and Neighbors” star shared a personal Instagram post on July 9 that detailed Kim’s treatment, explaining that she’s undergone 12 rounds of chemotherapy as well as a double mastectomy. Olivia noted why sharing such a similar experience with her mom came as an especially major surprise. “You may know that when I talk about my own battle with cancer I bring up the Lifetime Risk Assessment test that saved my life. I never would’ve predicted it would save my mom’s life as well,” she wrote in her post alongside a red heart emoji, explaining that she’d urged Kim to take the assessment despite – like Olivia – receiving a clear mammogram, and that once her mom scored over the high-risk threshold of 20 percent, she got an MRI that confirmed she’d reached Stage 1.
